In the early 1970's, varsity soccer at Cumberland High School in Rhode Island was essentially non-existent--a new sport that virtually no one cared about. That is, until the fall of 1971, when a dedicated coach and a group of resilient athletes embarked on the season of a lifetime.
"Seasons in the Fall" chronicles the magical journey of Cumberland's varsity soccer team, which rose from obscurity and advanced towards a state championship back in the days before soccer moms and travel teams. In the tradition of Buzz Bissinger's "Friday Night Lights" and written in the journalist style of Jim Bouton's "Ball Four", author Peter Dumas' moving memoir about life, love and sports captures the events and emotions of two exciting seasons. Told with humor and warmth, "Seasons in the Fall" brings its readers back to the 1970's and onto fields filled with engaging action and fleeting dreams.
