"Hell will freeze over before we'll hire a woman to be the principal at the Cook High School." That was the response to Judith Pearson's 1986 application for that position. Plaintiff Blues is the true story of her challenge to that prevailing provincialism in Minnesota's north country and of the devastating retaliation that ensued.

About The Author

Judith (Harvey) Pearson was born and raised in Virginia, Minnesota. She served 34 years in public education, 16 as a secondary social studies teacher and 18 as a school administrator. She retired from the public schools in 2001 and currently lives with her husband at www.lakevermilion.com.

Reviews

"It is undisputed that plaintiff established a prima facie case of discrimination. Defendant ISD 710 did assert several non-discriminatory reasons for its decision not to hire her. Plaintiff, however, successfully refuted these reasons and demonstrated that they were a pretext for sex discrimination." Judge Alsop, Federal District Court, April 16, 1991.
