Rosa DeLuca became a volunteer at Willow Brook, hoping that learning about the beautiful Victorian mansion would help her focus on anything other than her late husband's long battle with cancer. Rosa completed her training, started leading tours and made new friends. But soon after, constant squabbling among the museum staff seemed to be getting out of hand. No one realized just how out of hand until Rosa made a grisly discovery one morning. Detective Gene Statton, a big man with an even bigger heart, set out to unravel the mystery. The body was in such a state that Gene called in Dr. Jenny Davis, a forensics entomologist at the local university, to use insects to help pinpoint the time of death. Jenny's meticulous work provided clues to help solve the murder, and her growing friendship helped Gene cope with a frustrating case. After the victim's identity was established, Gene found no shortage of suspects. He had to use his charm, easy-going personality and highly observant nature to glean clues from the unpredictable and often uncooperative suspects. Although the investigation would be trying, Gene would forge new relationships, and in the process, learn more about himself.

About The Author

Dora Bornschein is a Colorado native and has lived in Southern Colorado for most of her life. Dora's novels take place in Colorado, where she finds inspiration in the rugged, natural beauty juxtaposed against the sometimes harsh and desolate conditions. Dora loves spending time in the mountains and exploring the history of the area. She has four grown children and has been married to her husband, Herb, for more than 50 years. Dora has always been a fan of murder mysteries, particularly those of Agatha Christie and P.D. James, which inspired her to begin writing murder mysteries of her own based on interesting people and events she's observed throughout her eventful life.
