This book is a collection of fiction inspired by the Christian, Sufi, Hindu, Buddhist and Native American cultural traditions. The diversity of sources contained in the book shows an intense multicultural experience that takes the form of a book written in two languages: Spanish and English. The book is made of short stories which makes it ideal for educational environments. Language classes as well as other subjects with a strong cultural orientation or in Modern Literature will certainly benefit from it.

About The Author

Refugio Sereno is the pen name of a professional social scientist who has a great deal of experience in multicultural projects and programs. Born in Mexico City, he has dedicated part of his life to working in the education field, and saves enough money to finance cultural exchange projects similar to non-profit organizations and voluntary work. He has not yet found a permanent solution to this double life. He says he does not feel discouraged by his circumstances and is still in search of the ultimate transcultural experience.

Reviews

Highly Recommended In these fictions Refugio was able to manage the two fundamental aspects of form and language. The former refers to the manner in which the structure of each story was conceived, and ranges from the circular through the interspersion of actions. The latter includes the precise manner in which vocabulary is used, and an economy of language that does not resort to adornment, but rather retains only the terms necessary for the presentation of each story. There is a cleanliness of style which is remarkable; and each topic is most suitable and unique. The book teaches intelligently, and is comprehensive, with no loose ends. Lauro Paz AMCyF 2002 Sizigias Award.
