About The Author
John Jourdane is one of the most experienced offshore sailors in the world today.
Over the past 35 years, he has raced and delivered yachts over 300,000 miles, including 47 Pacific Ocean and 12 Atlantic Ocean crossings. He has circumnavigated the Earth three times in sailboats - including twice in the Whitbread Round the World Race.
Jourdane’s highlights include being voted the “Best Racing Navigator in the World” by Sail Magazine in 1993 and winning the “Navigator’s Trophy” in the Transpac, Trans-Atlantic, and Vic-Maui Races. His lows have been losing eight rudders and breaking a mast in every ocean on the planet.
Jourdane is a navigator, a writer, and an educator. He is a lecturer for the “Safety at Sea” Seminars put on by US Sailing, West Marine, and Transpac Yacht Club.
He has authored the book Icebergs, Port and Starboard his newest book Sailing with Scoundrels and Kings.
