Gentleman Drunk is a true story about alcoholism and recovery. Jeffrey opens his life, tells his story, and invites you in to relive his personal experiences from his upbringing in the Jersey suburbs to his recovery in Utah. At 12, he steals into his father’s liquor cabinet, refilling the bottles with water to cover his tracks. At 18 he runs “Purple Passion” parties at the frat house. At 24 he’s ‘running and gunning’ with the fast New York Wall Street crowd; buying drinks for anyone who'll listen to his theories. As he ages, his drinking becomes more pronounced. No longer satisfied with 1 or 2 drinks at dinner, he gulps down single malt Scotch looking for that forever disappearing high. For years he continues to deteriorate until that fatal morn when he passes out in New York City in the dead of winter left to die on 3rd Avenue without a coin in his pocket. Most people think of drunks as weak, lower-class people, but Jeffrey shows that even in a million dollar lifestyle cannot save you from alcoholism. The author simply puts it, “great people always drink to get their best ideas.” His recovery is inspirational and is truly heartfelt. Jeffrey doesn’t just share with you the recovery. He shares pain, death, arguments, suffering, struggles and more. This story will make you laugh and cry at the same time. If you are an alcoholic or are living with an alcoholic, you will relate. We suggest this book to a wide spectrum of people, including: students, teachers, businessmen, factory workers, police officers and any adult who is interested in learning more about alcoholic behavior and recovery.

About The Author

Gentleman Drunk is a story about recovery from alcoholism. Although I drank for 40 years I never outwardly showed any signs of alcoholic behavior. Then all of a sudden, at 2:00 a.m. on 3rd Avenue in New York City, the police found me in a gutter clinging onto life. This is my story on how I survived, despite often seemingly insurmountable obstacles and challenges, in order to conquer the debilitating effects of alcoholism. Jeffrey hosts a radio show called Cocktails at 5 on wsRadio.com every Monday night. The show helps people understand how to recover from alcoholism and other addictive behaviors. It is designed to enhance standard recovery methods such as AA, rehab centers and self-help books.
