Surviving Dystonia is the true story of a little boy who at the age 7 develops a rare movement disorder called Early-Onset-Dystonia. The author of this book is the boy in the story. The boy is not properly diagnosed for 10 years. During the 10 years he is misdiagnosed as faking an illness to get attention at the age of 11. At this point of the boys life he is stripped of all the assistance he gets in school forcing him to fight the disease alone for the next 6 ½ years. As the disease progressively worsens his suffering increases, his ability to walk, sit, run and stand all but gone he finds himself forced to suffer in silence for fear of being punished for faking an illness. His struggle is to try to understand why all the adults around him treat him the way they do.
As the author and the little boy in the story I now as an adult realize the severity of my experience and how horrifying such an experience is to a little boy. The realization I have in writing the book is that it clearly was a case of child abuse, though not intended, by every adult around me. This is what makes the story so amazing and as powerful as a human interest story.
In the book I describe in detail how I battled the disease alone for so many years as a little boy and as a teenager. I also provide a list of the different forms of the disease as well as their treatment. A screen play is being written from the book about my experience and should be completed in a few months.

 | Harry Winkle from Inverness , Fl | | | A very goog performance by Carmine. Story was so tragic though he did feel emotional stable. He did lash out his anger. The thinking was so deep it was if he was in a trance. |
